Exploring Ubud, Bali 🌿
After a busy few days in Canggu, we jumped in a taxi and headed to Ubud, which took around an hour with traffic. As we’re travelling for a longer period, we’ve been trying to balance some more affordable stays with a few luxury ones, so we opted for a budget friendly hotel for our first few nights, costing just £15 a night!
We stayed at Umah Delod, which was in a great location and within walking distance of the main centre. It was perfect for what we needed!
On our first evening, we stumbled across a little hidden gem for dinner called Sayan Point, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a view quite like it. The food wasn’t anything particularly special, but the views more than made up for it. Definitely one to add to your list if you’re visiting Ubud!
We spent most of our time at Umah Delod, but are trying to mix cheaper accommodation with a few more luxurious stays along the way, and we came across Samujha, just around the corner from where we were staying. For just ÂŁ42, we managed to book a bungalow with a gorgeous shared pool. You really can find some incredible deals out here, and some of the hotels and villas are absolutely stunning!
One activity we definitely recommend is the Ubud Monkey Forest. I’d heard such mixed reviews, with some people saying the monkeys can be quite scary and unfriendly, but we honestly didn’t experience this at all. They seemed completely disinterested in us! It was such a lovely few hours wandering through the forest, getting up close to the monkeys and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
While we were at Sayan Point, we spotted a stunning building nearby and discovered it was the Four Seasons. We decided to head there one evening for some food and drinks! At around £1,200 a night, staying there unfortunately wasn’t quite within our budget this time, but I’d absolutely recommend visiting if you get the chance. It was easily one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve visited so far.
We were really keen to visit a waterfall while we were here, but some of them can be quite a trek to get to, so I’d definitely recommend checking distances before booking your accommodation! The closest one to us was Melayang Waterfall, and honestly, I wouldn’t go out of your way to visit it. It was pretty, but nothing particularly special.
Afterwards, we headed to the rice fields for a wander and to grab some lunch, which was a completely different story and definitely worth a visit! 🌾
For our next few nights, we were lucky enough to be invited to stay at Minati, a stunning new villa that has just opened in Ubud. I’ll save the full details for my review of this place, but let’s just say you’ll understand why we didn’t leave for two whole days!
Overall, we absolutely loved our time in Ubud. Although it was still busy and quite touristy, it felt like we got to experience a different side of Bali, with more greenery, beautiful rice fields and a real sense of being surrounded by nature.
Next stop: Uluwatu! We’ve heard it has a similar vibe to Canggu, but we’ll keep you posted… 🌴
