Having heard so many amazing things about Uluwatu, I was really looking forward to visiting, and it completely lived up to our expectations! We absolutely loved our time here and, looking back, it was one of our favourite places in Bali.
We stayed at Seni Boutique Hotel, a relatively new hotel in a great location, just a short distance from the main strip. Uluwatu has a similar vibe to Canggu, with plenty of lovely restaurants, bars and places to explore, but with the added bonus of some absolutely gorgeous beaches. For us, this made it even better!
Things to Do in Uluwatu 🌅
Although Uluwatu doesn’t have loads of traditional sightseeing activities, there are still a few experiences worth adding to your itinerary.
One thing we booked was the Kecak Fire Dance at Uluwatu Temple. We opted for the 7pm session, although you can book an earlier performance if you want to catch the sunset. The performance lasts around an hour and follows a repetitive style of storytelling, so it might not be for everyone. However, with tickets costing only around £6 each, I’d definitely recommend experiencing it at least once!
Of course, one of the biggest highlights of Uluwatu is its beaches. Whether you fancy spending the day soaking up the sun, watching the waves or finding a beautiful spot to relax, there’s plenty to enjoy. Combined with the amazing food scene and nightlife, it’s the perfect place to spend a few days.
Where We Stayed 🏨
We actually loved Uluwatu so much that we decided to extend our stay! What was originally planned as a shorter visit turned into a much longer one, and we ended up splitting our time between three different places.
We initially stayed at Seni Boutique Hotel before booking Villa Juno for two nights, followed by Siroco Boutique Hotel for a further three nights.
It turned out to be the perfect balance. We had plenty of opportunities to explore the restaurants, enjoy the nightlife and visit the beaches, but also had a few lovely days to slow down, relax and enjoy our surroundings. Sometimes, having a little extra time in a place you love is exactly what you need!
Where to Eat in Uluwatu 🍽️
If there’s one thing we made the most of in Uluwatu, it was the food! We tried what felt like almost every restaurant during our stay, and there were so many amazing places to choose from.
I’ve put together a separate blog post covering all of our favourite restaurants in Uluwatu, so be sure to check that out if you’re looking for food recommendations and want to know where’s worth adding to your itinerary.
Would We Recommend Uluwatu?
Absolutely — I genuinely couldn’t recommend Uluwatu enough! We loved the atmosphere, the beautiful beaches, the incredible restaurant scene and the perfect mix of exploring and relaxing. It had everything we wanted from our time in Bali, and we could easily have stayed even longer.
It’s definitely somewhere we’d return to, and I’d highly recommend adding it to your Bali itinerary if you’re planning a trip.
After spending our last few days on mainland Bali here, it was finally time for the next chapter of our trip…
Next stop: the islands begin! First up, Nusa Penida 🌊
